We are up again bright and early to head off to Battambang.  We say goodbye to the youth who head back to their homes. We left the hotel around 9:00 AM and stopped at the market for those who had not yet spent enough money.

On the way to Battambong we stoped at the silk farm to see the process that is done to take the silk from the silk worms and made into silk garments.

 For lunch we stopped and had quite a large meal that included the whole fish

 Pastor Jeremy seemed to enjoy the fish head

We arrived at the President Hotel around 4:00 PM and then went to dinner to get pizza so Nick could get his fix.

This morning after breakfast we all load up and go to visit Angkor Wat.

 The kids went in the busses and the volunteers went in Tuk Tuks.

Anchor Wat is a Hindu temple complex in Cambodia and the largest religious monument in the world.  The the temple was built by the Khmer King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century in Yasodharaoura "Khmer., present day Ankor, the capital of the Khmer Empire, as his state temple and eventual mausoleum.   Breaking from the Sharvism tradition of previous kings, Angkor Wat was instead dedicated to Vishnu.

 lAs the best-preserved temple at the site, it is the only one to have remained a significant rigious center since its foundation

.

After a full day of touring we have dinner and return to have our closing which included Holly Cameron presenting "Purity, Be Holy"

and with Char and Sarah doing a soft shoe/tap routine.

  We said goodbye to the kids and headed to the Night Market to see if we could find something we can't live without.  Back to the room by 9:30 and ready to hit the sack.

Nov 28, 2013 - HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

 This morning we started off to do service projects in the Siem Reap area.

 This is as close as we got to a Thanksgiving Turkey

 My group were privileged to dig a latrine

 Some worked on making thatch walls

 They wouldn't let the volunteers do much at all except sit around and supervise

 Some of our workers thought they could take time off, too.

 For most of the afternoon Jesse, Bob and I rode around in a tuk tuk to visit the job sites,.

  Dinner was at 6:00 PM and then some of the group went to have a shopping experience at the Night Market.

Back to the hotel and fall into bed.

Nov 27, 2013 It's up again early to start the Youth Conference at 8:00 AM.  We began with devotions and group discussions.

 

Question and answer time followed each part. 

We played games









and made crosses for our craft activity.
 

 Some of us were very tired by lunch time.

The big event in the evening was the talent show.  . 

We awarded prizes for the top three.

Another late night and off to bed.  Marilyn - what did you mean we will be back at the hotel by 5 every night???

This morning the Youth Conference starts at 8:00 AM with a worship service.  The theme of the conference is :"Means of Grace".  We are all working with different groups and we each have different stories to relate.

After Jeremy's introduction we broke into groups for our group discussion.  We have 6 groups and Kay and I have group #3.

After lunch we did a project making a very large badge that symbolized the Means of Grace

We then broke for some fun activities 

before we reconvened for our afternoon group discussion.  After dinner we had the kids do Sarah' hat project.  The kids seemed to really enjoy the project and we saw some very creative work.

 

We finished up with ice cream and  headed back to the hotel.  We got back around 10:00 PM and hit the sack.
